Story 2: The Man Who Gave His Umbrella

午後天空灰濛濛的，雲層低垂像一大塊濕棉絮。雷聲在遠方悶悶響起，不久便開始下起大雨。
The afternoon sky was gray and heavy, like a giant piece of wet cotton. Thunder rumbled in the distance, and soon, rain began to pour.

一個小女孩站在巷口水果店門前躲雨，書包早已濕透，鞋子也噗通噗通地滴水。她一邊發抖，一邊往馬路那頭張望。
A little girl stood at the entrance of a fruit shop, trying to stay dry. Her backpack was soaked, and her shoes squished with water. She kept shivering and glancing across the road.

她的頭髮黏在臉上，額頭還泛著微微的紅。
Her hair clung to her face, and her forehead still looked slightly flushed.

一位穿著灰色外套、提著公事包的叔叔，撐著黑色雨傘走過來。
A man in a gray jacket holding a briefcase walked by, sheltered under a black umbrella.

「妳在等人嗎？」他停下腳步問，語氣溫和。
“Are you waiting for someone?” he asked gently, stopping in front of her.

小女孩點點頭，又低下頭說：「媽媽剛剛打電話來，她說公司突然有事，要晚點才能來接我，叫我先不要亂走……」
The little girl nodded and looked down. “My mom just called… Something came up at her work, so she’ll be late. She told me not to go anywhere...”

她咬著嘴唇，眼神有點慌：「我剛退燒，媽媽說不能再淋雨，可是我也不敢進水果店，怕把地板弄濕……」
She bit her lip, eyes nervous. “I just got over a fever… Mom said not to get wet again. But I’m scared to go into the shop… I don’t want to make the floor dirty…”

叔叔看著她瘦小的身影、濕透的裙擺，一秒鐘也沒遲疑，把傘遞過去。
The man looked at her small, shivering figure and her soaked skirt. Without hesitation, he handed her the umbrella.

「這傘給妳撐著，等媽媽來也比較安心。」
“Take this umbrella. You’ll feel better while waiting for your mom.”

女孩一臉驚訝地接過傘，眼眶泛紅：「真的可以嗎？謝謝叔叔！」
The girl took the umbrella, wide-eyed. “Really? Thank you, sir!”

「快撐上，別再感冒了。」叔叔微笑著說，拉起外套帽子，踏進雨中，迅速消失在人群裡。
“Go ahead—don’t catch a cold again,” he said with a smile. He pulled up his hood and stepped into the rain, quickly disappearing into the crowd.

她站在原地，看著叔叔的背影越走越遠，心裡一陣溫暖。雨聲再大，也蓋不住她嘴角的笑意。
She stood still, watching the man’s back fade into the rain. A warm feeling spread in her chest. Even with the pouring rain, a small smile crept across her face.
