照顧院子也有一番學問

搬到新房子，院子的草皮似乎不太漂亮，因為是6%的斜坡地面，也擔心草皮不美會導致泥土流失。這個春季，應該好好施肥、追種，讓原本的草皮更加漂亮、健康。

當今時代進步，科技發達，爆炸性的資訊有時讓人難以消化。然而，科技的進步也為我們帶來了許多便利。例如，只需拍下一張照片，就能利用 Google Lens 幫助我們識別圖片中的內容。透過 Google Lens，我們成功找到了後院草地的品種應該是 Tall fescue，或者是 perennial ryegrass。閱讀了一些資訊後，我覺得後院草地的品種應該是 Tall fescue 或 fine fescue。

根據  Lawn Love 和 North Carolina Extension Gardener Handbook 網站，北卡州屬於過渡區（transition zone），因此我們可以種植冷季草（cool-season grass）和暖季草（warm-season grass）。爸爸一直念念不忘德州的 Bermuda 或 St. Augustine 草種，這些屬於暖季草（warm-season grass），其中 Bermuda Common 可以栽種，但混合型（hybird）的則不行，而 St. Augustine 草應該不能栽種。

“Cool-season grasses grow best in the spring and fall and less actively in the summer. They stay reasonably green in the winter. Tall fescue, Kentucky bluegrass, fine fescue, and perennial ryegrass are common types of cool-season grasses.”

“Warm-season grasses are slow to green up in the spring, grow best in the summer, and go dormant after the first heavy frost.”
