Story 1: The Unprepared Doctor
English
Dr. Lin had just finished his internship, filled with passion to help. That rainy day, the waiting room was crowded.
A middle-aged man, pale and clutching his chest, coughed harshly and said, “Doctor, I’ve been coughing for two weeks. I can’t take it anymore.”
Eager to help, Dr. Lin didn’t ask further or use a stethoscope. He quickly recalled a common cough remedy from his textbooks and wrote the prescription.
Two days later, the man was rushed to the ER with severe pneumonia. Hearing the news, Dr. Lin froze in the hospital hallway, the rain pounding outside while his heart sank into cold regret.
At that moment, he realized: to help others, passion is not enough—knowledge and training are essential.
Reflection Questions:
👉 Have you ever wanted to help but failed because you weren’t prepared enough?
👉 If you were Dr. Lin, how would you change the way you prepare yourself for the future?
